Welcome to my blog! Let's get to know each other; I'll start. My name is Amy, I'm a newly married momma-to-be, dance and theater teacher, lover of all things creative, seamstress in the making and sweet tooth indulger. I started this blog as a way to share some of my favorite things.
I began dancing at six years old. I was a ballerina from the start! I loved everything about it, the tutus, the slippers, the costumes, the dances, you name it, I loved it.
I brought this love of dance with me when I started musical theater in college. At first I saw this as a way to dance, performing in the dance ensemble, but soon it became more to me than that. I loved the theater, just as much as I loved dance. I continued pursuing these two together ever since by performing, directing and choreographing.
So where does sewing fall into all of this? Well, while I was in college, like any good dance and theater major, I took costuming. This is where I learned to sew. We began with making pillows, and ended with creating our own stage costume (I chose to be Millie from Thoroughly Modern Millie).
Soon after college I was teaching dance, and I found it fun to make my own ballet skirts. My student's got such a kick out of it that I began a small Etsy business with my family, Miss Lottie's Ballet Boutique. I made the ballet skirts, my sister made the hair bows, the rest is history.
Since then I have made many costumes for shows that I have directed. And now as a momma-to-be, I have the want to make things for my little guy.
I hope that you'll enjoy what I have to share. I hope that it inspires you to create and share your own creations! See you soon!
