Amy Jones

Amy Jones is a teaching artist, choreographer, director, and performer based out of North Texas. She received her Masters Degree from Texas Woman's University, and her Bachelors Degree from the University of North Texas, with an emphasis on Dance, Theater and Music. Amy currently serves on the faculty of the University of North Texas in the Department of Dance and Theatre. She also is the owner and instructor of Crescendo School of Dance, as well as a freelance choreographer throughout the DFW area.

As a teacher, Amy's focus is to inspire young people to pursue their love of the arts by increasing youth education in musical theater and dance as a way to express oneself and build individual and community identity. She teaches classes in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, musical theater dance, and acting. Amy regularly holds Master Classes and Workshops in Audition Techniques, as well as summer camps where students can come to learn, love and grow as they experience dance, sometimes for the first time.

Amy previously served as Resident Choreographer and Education Director at a local theater. While there she was fortunate to choreograph ten musicals a year. Such productions included BIG FISH, GUYS AND DOLLS, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, WHITE CHRISTMAS, BYE BYE BIRDIE, among many others. Rehearsals are her favorite part of the production process. It is here that she is able to watch her creativity come to life through the actions of the performers on the stage. Amy has the unique ability to work with trained dancers, singers that move, and newcomers with relatively no movement training, and push them to reach their potential. They become comfortable dancing which lets them shine on stage.

Whether it is sharing a studio, sharing a stage, or sharing a smile, Amy welcomes the to opportunity to dance with you!
